PV Modules
Quality PV module selection is extremely important and not all modules are created equal. Sunfind Solar Products only uses Tier 1 crystalline modules. These modules have proven to provide long term reliability and are now very affordable.
Quality modules will have a 20-25 year output warranty AND the performance history to back it up. In the last 10 years, we've seen a record number of manufacturers enter the market and a record number leave the market during the consolidation period of 2011-2013. There are millions of PV modules on roof now with no warranty or any support whatsoever.
When researching a PV system, ensure the system includes PV modules from a well-established manufacturer that will be available decades down the road.
Mounting Equipment
Unfortunately, mounting equipment is overlooked, but it is also critically important to the performance and life of a system. Not only does it hold tens-of-thousands of dollar's worth of PV modules, it acts as an interface with your roofing surface.
First, you need to consider, the PV modules are secured to this material and the racking needs to be designed to hold not only the weight of the modules, but also take any other loads such as: wind, rain, snow and even humans. It is important that the racking retains its integrity for decades.
Second, the racking mounts to the roof. Quality, appropriate flashing needs to be included with the system. We need to ensure your roof is going to remain healthy, with no leaks. Having a roof leak can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage.
You be assured the racking we provide is the best in the business. It may cost a couple more cents per watt, but having a reliable and long terms mounting solution is very important.
Inverter System
When it comes to a grid tie system, there are two types of battery-less inverter systems: micro-inverter and string / central inverter. Currently, we use the Enphase (micro) inverter in all of our systems. Why? We believe this is the most efficient and reliable set-up for the average PV system owner. Enphase inverters offer several advantages: most efficient option where some shade may be prevelant, common 240VAC power from the array down to the point of connection, per module monitoring, industry leading efficiency of 96.5% and an industry leading warranty of 25 years.
We have been using this inverter exclusively for several years and are extremely pleased with the result. Excellent performance and excellent support.
System Monitoring
System monitoring is not only a diagnostic tool, but also an accountability tool. When presenting a client with a economic analysis, we make claims on the expected performance on the system. Having a comprehensive monitoring program allow you to ensure the system is living up to expectations. In addition, with a system from Sunfind Solar Products, you can also see the individual performance of each module. This type of precision not only allow you to ensure the entire array is working and performing as required, but our system allows you to ensure each PV module and inverter is working as required.
Balance-of-System Components
These are all the items you don't see: wiring, juction boxes, splitter boxes, electrical panels, breakers, anchors and more. There are literally dozens of parts that go into a complete PV system. When purchasing a system from us, you receive a complete bill of materials showing exactly what you will receive.
