Residential Grid Tie Systems
Welcome to the world of Renewable Energy! Sunfind Solar Products is proud to provide our grid tie solar energy systems Canada wide. The last several years the solar energy business has exploded with demand greatly outstripping supply. Starting in late 2008 and in 2009, supply issues have been resolved and the price of solar is now, once again, trending lower. It is now a buyers market...good news for Canada!
While the Canada is posting some impressive solar installation growth numbers, Canada still drastically lags the U.S and Europe in installed capacity and policy. In Canada, the most dominant use of solar energy is off-grid, however, grid-tie systems are posting impressive growth numbers and hold fantastic opportunity for the Canadian solar market. Solar grid-tie systems can serve any residential or commercial application that is connected to the utility grid.
A grid-tie system will consist of the following:
- Solar Array: This consists of the solar modules and wiring.
- Solar Mount: This secures the solar modules to the mounting surface.
- DC disconnect: Most utilities will require a DC disconnect mounted on the outside of the home. This allows the inverter to be de-energized at any time.
- Inverter: The inverter takes the high voltage DC electricity from the solar array and is converted to the required AC voltage for the home.
- AC Load Center: This is simply the AC Distribution Panel that feeds all of the homes circuits from the utility.
- Utility Meter: The utility meter records the amount of electricity consumed from the utility. The utility can also record the amount of electricity exported back into the grid, as is the case in Alberta, where net metering is approved.
- Utility Connection: This is simply the power line that accesses the home.
1. FINANCIAL INVESTMENT
While the price of solar energy continuous to trend lower, and utility power continuous to rise, solar energy is still more expensive than utility power when comparing price based solely on $/kW.
How Much Will I Save?
Savings are calculated based solely on the amount of electricity that the solar system will off-set from the utility at $0.10 / kW. Savings will also vary depending on your location and the transmission, distribution and service charges applied by your utility.
- 3.3 kW System = $445/year
- 3.5 kW System = $740/year
- 7.7 kW system = $1,000/year
- 9.9 kW system = $1,300/year
How Long is the Payback?
Looking only at the yearly savings provided, a solar energy system will take many years to pay for itself. However, a solar system will pay for itself in more ways than just than through yearly savings.
FOR EVERY $1 IN
ENERGY SAVINGS, A HOME’S VALUE
INCREASES BY $20*
The solar system increases the home’s value by over half the cost of the solar system. That means that over 50% of the solar system is immediately recouped in the home’s increased equity!
Own or Rent?
Would you rather rent or own a home...virtually anyone that can afford home ownership would rather own than rent their home. It is common knowledge to why it is more desirable to own a home verse renting a home. When it comes to energy, merely paying the electrical bill is like renting. Own your own energy by purchasing a solar system!

2. ENERGY INDEPENDENCE AND SECURITY
Solar systems act like a hedge. Lock in a portion or all of energy for over 3 decades. Does the possibility of skyrocketing energy costs worry you? Energy costs from utilities are increasing at accelerated rates due to “pollution costs” now being administered by governments around the world. Carbon offsets, cap and trade, and other punitive measures are being applied to large carbon producers, such as energy utilities. These cost are being passed on to the consumer all in an effort to reduce consumption. As more of these programs come into effect driving up the cost of energy, solar energy owners will continue to save money as solar energy prices are fixed for the life of the solar system. No inflation and no operating costs.
3. SOLAR IS 100 PERCENT CLEAN
Operating solar system produce absolutely no emissions... that means 100% clean, renewable energy! Solar energy help provide a better, cleaner future for our children and grandchildren.
Looking at new ways to generate sales? Looking at ways to stand out from your competitors? Looking at ways to take meet the growing demand for green energy?

Enphase Energy has revolutionized the grid tie market with their Enphase Microinverter. Sunfind Solar Products now includes Enphase Microinverter in all our grid tie systems.
Sunfind Solar Products strives to keep our clients informed on the latest industry trends and developments.
The Enphase Microinverter shifts DC to AC conversion from a large, centralized inverter to a compact unit attached directly to each solar module in the power system. Distributing the conversion process to each module makes the entire solar power system more productive, reliable, and smarter than traditional inverter systems.
The Enphase Solution
The Enphase Energy Microinverter System solves solar power challenges by performing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) at each solar module. MPPT is an algorithm used to calculate and respond to temperature and light changes detected on a solar power system, and to determine how much power to draw from the module. In contrast, centralized inverter’s MPPT algorithm sees the entire solar power system as a single module, and responds to the lowest production numbers it detects.
More Reliable
Traditional centralized inverters implementations create a single point of failure for solar power systems. If the inverter fails, the entire system is disabled. Enphase Microinverters convert power independently at each solar module. If one microinverter fails, the rest continue to operate as usual. Also, if a microinverter is damaged or fails, it can be replaced during routine maintenance or when convenient, further reducing maintenance costs.
Reduced Operational Costs
With the Enphase Microinverter System, installers are no longer limited by string design, marginal designs, co-planarity, and matched modules. The space, heat, and noise associated with a large inverter are eliminated. Enphase Microinverter Systems improve mechanical integration, reduce wiring time, and remove the need for DC switching points.
Flexibility
Another benefit of the distributed microinverter design is the potential for installations to be expanded over time. An initial set of solar modules can be installed and additional modules added as needs and budgets grow without requiring the replacement of a large centralized inverter.
Compliance and Reliability
The Enphase Microinverter is CSA Listed per UL1741 and can withstand surges of up to 6kV. Enphase Microinverter Systems undergo rigorous testing including HALT and HASS, ensuring reliability. Independent testing by Relex – a leading third party reliability expert – has shown an estimated Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 331 years for Enphase Microinverters.
Conergy Power Systems are attractive and reliable roof top solar power systems that allows a homeowner to produce unlimited power via the Sun. Conergy Power Systems parts include: photovoltaic solar panels, grid-connect inverters and Conergy SunTop mounts.

Our grid tie systems utilize the revolutionary EnPhase micro inverter! This inverters allow the inverter to be attached directly to the solar module, eliminating lengthy, expensive and complicated DC circuits.

Modular and Cost Effective
Ultimately, all home owners dream of supplying a 100% of the homes power. However, many budgets don’t allow for the implementation for a system large enough to cover the average Canadian home’s power consumption. Now, with EnPhase Micro Inverters, the system can be installed in “building blocks”. Start with a 3.3kW system...expand to a 5.5kW system….and finish with a 9.9kW system! Simple, easy, cost effective!
